Movie News: Wolfman hit by silver bullet

The long awaited remake of Lon Chaney Jr’s “The Wolf Man” has lost its director.  Late Monday night Mark Romanek dropped out of the movie for creative differences.
Benico Del Toro is attached to play the werewolf.  Along with Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt (Charlie Wilson’s War) are signed to play the other leads.
Universal claims that Romanek left the project in […]

Movie News: YOO Joe

Lots of news on this one.  Variety reports that G. I. Joe has yet another cast.  This one’s not of the young blood elk.   He’s saved the world from global freezing, he’s ventured inside a “Short” body, he had “The Right Stuff” to orbit the earth.  Needless to say he is well qualified to lead the elite […]

Movie News: G.I. Joe

Strange.  Never heard of this guy before, now I’m reporting on him twice in one day.  Channing Tatum who we reported is set to stare in the new Michael Mann film “Public Enemies.”  According to AICN Channing is set to play Duke in the ‘09 release of G.I. Joe.
Months ago there was talk of […]

Movie News: Director for Hobbit found

Guillermo del Toro has topped a short list of potentials to direct The Hobbit.  Peter Jackson, who directed the orginal trilogy, will produce.

Guillermo Del Toro is going to be a house hold name.  I remember watching The Devils Backbone and thinking, “this guy is great, and he’s gonna be a superstar.”  Well I was right, Guillermo del Toro […]

Movie News: Besson is in the news, that is good news.

Luc Besson, director of The Professional (aka Leon), The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, Arthur and the Invisibles, La Femme Nikita, and…
It looks as if his production company Eurpopa Corp has bought the film rights to Jacques Tardi’s classic comic series “Adventures Extraodinaires.”  The important French comic is based in war torn France during W.W.I..
No word if Besson will […]

Movie News: Mann, Depp, Bale. I love four letter words.

Variety reports that Michael Mann, director of Heat, Last of the Mohicans, and um, Miami Vice (I hear the Director Cut is better) is set to direct a depression-era crime drama, “Public Enemies.”  Enemies will star Johnny Depp as the countries most notorious gangster John Dillinger.  Christan Bale (everyone’s new goodguy) as Melvin Purvis, an agent […]

Ugh, Meet the Spartans wins.

Not saying that Rambo is stiff competition but I just can’t stand spoofs.  It irritates me that these mindless pseudo-satiric comedy’s gain so much steam.  It is safe to assume that the people seeing movies like “Meet The Spartans,” are not reading this site, if you are, no offense, I just wish you would spend […]

Movie News: Well sort of.

Lego is looking to up-seat Hasbro as the leader in toy sales 2008.  Hasbro stocked, and re-stocked the shelves last year, with much help from the summer blockbuster “Transformers.”  This year, as reported by Marc Graser at Variety, it looks as if Hasbro will dominant the Hollywood toy tie-in race.  Hasbro is producing this summers ”Speed Racer” film […]

Movie News: The new 007 title is…

ACCORDING TO THE BBC it’s “Quantum of Solace.”  Never being a giant fan of the old series(s) I’m not versed in the Ian Fleming books.  It’s possible that the title is based on a short story by Fleming from the ’60’s.
“Solace” is to start directly where Royale left off  co-producer Michael Wilson tells the BBC.
Casino Royale was a […]
