The long awaited remake of Lon Chaney Jr’s “The Wolf Man” has lost its director. Late Monday night Mark Romanek dropped out of the movie for creative differences.
Benico Del Toro is attached to play the werewolf. Along with Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt (Charlie Wilson’s War) are signed to play the other leads.
Universal claims that Romanek left the project in good shape.
Well shall see. I for one would rather see a new, unique werewolf movie, not a remake, not an uber-action film. Aside from ”Dog Soldiers” by Neil Marshall (The Descent) we have had several attempts at the genre, all were awful. Although to be fair, I hear that Ginger Snaps is good, but I can’t vouch for it, for I have not seen it.
Del Toro is a fantastic actor, seeing him as a tormented werewolf would be interesting, I hope the studio can find a solid replacment.
Tell me what you think.
