sam the manSam Raimi is getting into the directors chair again, and there’s no men in tights climbing walls in his next feature.  It’s been so long since we’ve seen him direct something other than a “Spider Man” movie I can’t keep my excitement to myself.

Hot off “Juno,” Ellen Page is set to star in a horror film directed by Sam Raimi, “Drag Me To Hell.”  Hell was written by Ivan and Sam Raimi and is the first feature that Sam is directing for his production company Ghost House.  Ghost House has brought us ”The Boogie Man” films, “The Grudge” movies and “Thirty Days of Night.”  Hell is to start principal photography in L.A. on March 17th.

This is very exciting news, even though horror films are not my favorite genre (far from it).  A smart horror film on the horizon is great news.  Page is not picking up just any role right now (she just got an Oscar nod for Juno) and although cute, she’s not the “A” typical blonde, big boobed, screamer that usually graces the screen of a horror film.  Lets face it, Raimi is at a point in his career where he can do what he wants with the budget he wants.  This has the make up to be a great movie, and any movie with Hell in the title gives me the creeps.
