Wow, this is very cool news for you “Star Wars” geeks and Yoda lovers alike. Star Wars is coming to the big screen, again, this time in animation form. On Monday, Lucasfilm, Warner Bros. and Turner Broadcasting System announced that the animated movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” would hit movie theaters Aug. 15. The Clone Wars will be followed up with episodes on the Cartoon Network and TNT in 30min mini-movies (episodes). Apparently there are already 30 episodes in the can (meaning done).
Both the film and TV mini-movies will mix favorite “Star Wars” heroes such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala with new ones like Anakin’s Padawan learner, Ahsoka. Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous round out the cast of sinister villains poised to rule the galaxy.
I can say that I’m very excited about this. If you have not watched the 1st seasons’ of The Clone Wars on the cartoon network, you simply must; if you don’t then your not a Star Wars fan at all (my page, my rules). Genndy Tartakovsky, (Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratories) has done a lot of work on the previous Clone Wars, and is possibly the coolest animator in the universe. I’m not sure if Tartakovsky is doing any work on the new series, but the ground work he laid will be seen throughout.
I’m praying that this will come to IMAX, no word yet. Hope, hope, pray, pray. Lucas gods hear our prayers, blow our minds with 3 stories of awesomeness.
Either way, seeing Clone Wars on the big screen, projected in digital, with Lucas’s amazing, brain rattling THX sound system if enough to make the most modest of Star Wars fans excited. Gosh I’m excited to see this, I wish it were summer.
Tell me what you think-
